Today, the European Commission has published the Proposal for a regulation “European Critical Raw Materials Act” and the Communication “A secure and sustainable supply of critical raw materials in support of the twin transition”.
The Commission recognises that Critical Raw Materials (CRM) are indispensable for a wide set of technologies needed for EU strategic sectors including the space and defence. The Act aims to strengthen all stages of the European critical raw materials value chain, diversify the EU's imports to reduce strategic dependencies, improve the EU capacity to monitor and mitigate risks of disruptions to the supply of critical raw materials, and improve circularity and sustainability.
Knowledge will continue to be the foundation of these measures. This is why the Commission has revamped its Raw Materials Information System to version 3.0.
For convenience, please take a look at the leaflet presenting it.

We take this opportunity to also highlight the Commission’s publication “Supply chain analysis and material demand forecast in strategic technologies and sectors in the EU – A foresight study”
