Dual use maritime technologies were centre-stage at Southampton event
ENDR’s second conference took place on 4 April in Southampton. Organised by the Marine Southeast cluster and the Commission, the event’s 100-plus participants from across Europe and North America debated the best ways to promote public-private cooperation in support of dual use marine and maritime technologies.
International organisations and the UK’s defence authorities explained their dual use needs and how they are working with SMEs and the private sector in general to identify, develop and move technologies into the marketplace. Participants also learned about the public-private approach of San Diego’s Maritime Alliance cluster for meeting the needs of its “blue economy” and, moreover, how it reaches out to its international network of cluster contacts in Europe and elsewhere. More than 120 contacts, organised by the Enterprise Europe Network, took place on the following day.

Clusters Go International call for dual use postponed
The Clusters Go International call announced in the last ENDR Newsletter was published on 22 March. However, its section that focuses on dual use had to be postponed until after summer 2017. Interested organisations should be aware that membership in the European Cluster Collaboration Platform (see the next news item) is a prerequisite to respond to that call.
See the Clusters Go International Call published on 22 March.

Does your cluster seek others or aim for international markets?
Then join the European Cluster Collaboration Platform (ECCP) to accelerate your market opportunities. ECCP’s tools help clusters find potential partners and identify business opportunities. They also promote collaboration trans-nationally within Europe and beyond, support new value chains via cross-sectorial cooperation and offer access to the latest information on cluster developments.
Membership is open to all clusters across the EU and from other countries taking part in the COSME programme. ECCP membership is also a precondition to apply for the Cluster Go International call for proposals.

First ENDR members' meeting announced
The Commission will bring together ENDR members for a workshop on 26 October in Brussels to evaluate ENDR’s evolution at that point and to share insight on its future.
Members will have the opportunity to share views and present their expectations about the network’s development. This will provide valuable input to the Commission’s planned roadmap for the network's expanded roll out. The roadmap is expected to be released by the end of 2017.
Join ENDR.
