ENDR event in Toulon on defence and dual use technologies in the maritime domain
The "European forum on defence and dual use technologies for the protection of the maritime domain" will take place on the 24-25 May in Toulon.Co-organised by the European Commission and ENDR member Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region (PACA) the event will:
- raise awareness among public and private economic stakeholders about the potential of dual use technologies for the European maritime sector;
- present opportunities for EU funding in the area of dual use and defence, as well as cooperation between civil and military stakeholders;
- foster development of interregional and European collaboration between maritime stakeholders, in particular between primes, clusters and SMEs.

Save the date: Launch of the European Defence Skills Partnership
The Director-General for Internal Market, Entrepreneurship, Industry & SMEs, Lowri Evans, will launch on 19 June the European Defence Skills Partnership in Brussels. The event forms part of a COSME project under the Blueprint for sectoral cooperation on skills initiative for the defence sector that kicked-off on 19 June. It will foster cooperation among key stakeholders and deliver the sectoral strategy on skills, based on consensus and commitment to implementation.
The Director-General will address the Partnership members and call upon key stakeholders to grasp the new funding opportunities for skills within the sector.

ENDR event on EU funding for defence in Seville
The European Commission together with ENDR member IDEA, is organising a symposium on 3 and 4 October in Seville to promote research and innovation in the field of defence & dual use.
Participants will have the opportunity to:
- explore opportunities to foster synergies between funding offered by the European Structural and Investment Funds, the European Defence Fund, and other sources of funding (European and national);
- share experiences, best practices and showcases of such synergies;
- discuss the main barriers to achieving synergies (in particular for SMEs) and ideas to overcome them.

Preparatory action on defence research: 2018 calls launched
The European Commission adopted the 2018 financing decision for the preparatory action on defence research (PADR) with a budget of €40 million. It includes descriptions of 3 topics.
The research topics are capability-driven and focus on critical defence technologies. Such technologies aim to retain Europe’s strategic autonomy while ensuring security of supply, without end-user restrictions.
