Romanian Cluster PROECO-CBRNE

Advanced materials, Energy, Robotics

The Romanian Cluster PROECO-CBRNE was established in December 2016. It aims to encourage collaboration between research centres, universities and Romanian firms in order to foster business opportunities, and continuous growth and innovation in the following domains: environmental protection, CBRNE (chemical, biological, radiological/nuclear and explosive), advanced materials, space and security.

The cluster is linked to Romania’s national smart specialisation strategy, according to which it aims to develop the following dual use areas: tools to counter chemical and biological agents, firefighting equipment, acquisition of CBRN data from a wide variety of stationary or mobile sensors, individual and collective ballistic protection, storage capabilities integrated into the CBRN Monitoring and Warning System (CMWS) or in similar systems.

PROECO-CBRNE has the capacity to integrate all regional players in technological and productive supply chain fields, while encouraging them to cooperate with the research sector.

The cluster carries out projects addressing the regional strategy in the CBRN protection field, including vocational training and high education, technology transfer and communication, dual use and internationalisation.
