The North East Regional Development Agency (NE RDE) was established in 1999. NE RDE is a non-governmental, nonprofit, public utility institution. Our mission is to act as a generator of economic and social development in the North-East Region. Our agency develops strategies, attracts resources, identifies and implements financing programmes and offers services for stimulating sustainable economic development, partnerships and an entrepreneurial spirit.
Within the regional strategy, our organisation is supporting the development of the defence sector by offering access to its own network and know-how, by searching for financial instruments suited for defence-related R&D and production activities as well as supporting startups to follow this path.
Our most important regional player in this sector is Aerostar SA, which acts as a subcontractor in major civil programmes for companies such as Airbus, GKN Aerospace, Premium AEROTEC, Dassault, Gulfstream, Boeing, and Bombardier. Aerostar is also involved in the maintenance and repair of military aircraft as well as development of ground defence systems.
Furthermore, NE RDE is supporting the development of the newly created Forensics Cluster, which will have its headquarters in our region, on Aerostar’s premises.
