AIR - Aerospace Innovation and Research regional network
Aerospace
The Regional Innovation network AIR – Aerospace Innovation and Research consists of 41 participating subjects of which 31 SMEs, 4 large companies, 4 Departments of the Universities of the Veneto region, and 1 Innovation agency promoted by the Chambers of commerce of Treviso, Verona and Venice and UNIVENETO Foundation.
The core competencies of the AIR ecosystem are prevalent on the following main application areas of the aerospace market:
Earth observation: telescopes, scientific payloads, components, small propulsion systems and telecommunications systems for small satellites
Space exploration: space robotics, autonomous rovers and extra-terrestrial habitats. Habitat design based on new architectural and constructional paradigms and sustainability (artificial gravity, lighter structures, radiation protection, sustainable food..)
Aerostructures: transparent solutions, parts of aerostructures and precision mechanical components dedicated to aeronautics, for applications for light vehicles, military and space rovers. Composite products for structural and complex parts.
The presence of University of Padova and Center for Space Studies and Activities CISAS, ranking in 2nd place among all Italian universities and 17th place worldwide for Space Science, offers specialised skills on testing, validation and qualification of aircraft and satellites to support the skills of the entire supply chain in the construction of fixed-wing platforms and for space.
The AIR cluster was approved by the Italian region of Veneto with resolution no. 246 of 2 March 2020. The network is aligned with the RIS3 strategy of Veneto region which has identified for space sector a specific strategic mission.
